United Arab Emirates Green Beret.

A UAE beret, I don't know which arm or unit wears or wore it
The green colour is similar to that of British Royal Marine Commando berets.
The band is of black leather, there are no manufacturers marks in it, a label has been removed.
The badge is of metal with a matt gold coloured finish and a vertical brooch pin fitting.
I have no further knowledge re. this beret.
Worn by infantry, commando, border police?

These were recruits putting on a drill display. They would seem to have similar berets with the same badge.

Thanks, I hadn't seen that photo.

The beret belongs to the Presidential Guard Amphibious Force / Marines at Al Forsan.

Thanks for that - is the unit identified by badge or beret colour or the combination of both please?

Eddie Parks 05-10-18 09:54 AM

The badge is a universal badge worn by all. Beret colour distinguishes units.

Thanks for that.

There appears to be an enamelled version of this badge (red, black, white, green on gold coloured metal) what's the significance of the enameling please - unit, rank, arm of service?

3battalion 22-10-18 02:31 PM

UAE National Colours.

Yes, sorry, my question wasn't at all clear, is the enamelled badge worn by certain units or ranks?

Eddie Parks 23-10-18 09:50 AM

I've never been able to work out the variations. I am not really convinced there is any system!

leigh kitchen 23-10-18 10:12 AM

It could just be a variation with no significance re. unit or rank then, thank you.

3battalion 24-10-18 01:46 AM

Yep No significance Leigh. The metal badges were previously issued to all ranks and now the badge is issued in cloth.
