4th Royal Horse Artillery: BD tunic & side cap
8 Attachment(s)
I am in the process of 'rationalising' my collection and considering which items may be worth selling.
With this in mind, please find attached some photos of a 1940 Pattern BD tunic, dated 1942, for a Bombadier/Corporal signaller who served with 4th Royal Horse Artillery, which was part of 4th Armoured Brigade during 1944-45. Plus the same original owner's side cap, with his name written inside. I obtained this several years ago from the family of the original owner. I would be grateful if any members could give me a sense of what this may be worth in the current market? I must confess that I have been quite attached to this one. Aside from the combination of insignia, I like the character of it. It is interesting to note the somewhat rudimentary sewing, notably the Bdr's stripes which were simply put on top of the existing L/Bdr's stripe, presumably 'in the field' (in stark contrast to the neatly stitched insignia on the Life Guards BD tunic which I have posted under 'Infantry (& Guards)'). Also, the "RHA" metal titles in addition to the "Royal Artillery" cloth titles. I am not too sure why he had 3 white lanyards? Anyway, any insights on current value would be appreciated! |
