The MOD have just released this picture of their new wing. I had to check it wasn’t the first of April.
UK Space Command launched…

UK Space Command showed then on Twitter back in March and attracted comments about having a " space fleet vibe".
They do seem reminiscent of cartoon designs.
"To infinity and beyond".

Reminds me of a visit to an RAF Communications establishment where I passed an office door with an engraved door sign denoting the occupant as,
'OC Space'! - Regards Mark

Its not new, photos of this wing have been out for several months.

But the RAF are playing catch-up. RAF personnel have worn the USAF Space Badge (now called the USAF 'Space Operations Badge') for the last couple of years whilst serving in the US at Buckley Air Force Base, and in the UK at RAF Fylingdales in North Yorkshire.

Space operations have been active for more than two years. Having been disbanded in 2009, it was announced in July 2019 that No. 23 Squadron would reform as the UKs first 'Space Squadron', which they did in January 2021, for 'day to day space command and control'.

Out of interest is this wing only worn by aircrew?

Is it only worn by Officers, Warrant Officers and SNCO's.

A very interesting badge though, an interesting part of the RAF I know nothing of.

You're not tempted to change your avatar? Update it?

It's the guys in red shirts that have to worry.

Guys in red shirts are always a problem - always rabble rousing from the back of the crowd they were, during army training.
Or are you thinking of the portrait of me that I use as my avatar?

Going back to Simon's question, who wears it please?
Cheers
Chris

Actually I was thinking of the redshirted security guys in Star Trek landing parties, whose only purpose is to die early in the episode hence "he's dead Jim".
