Poppy Fundraiser

3 Attachment(s)
Almost missed this one , it was in a small joblot that included some poppy pins I already have (and a set of poppy earings !) .

It goes well with other "supporter" pins I have.

1. Poppy Fundraiser - 2020 given to those who took part in various sponsored fundraising activities.

2. Poppy Supporter - 2021

3. Legion Companion - 2015/16 (?) They were introduced after VE70 campaign in Gold/Silver/Bronze and given to those who signed up to donate a set amount each month.

Poppy Cabs

Just got this year's badge :
Quote:

The cab is an Austin Jones High Lot built sometime between 1930 and 1933. Austin built the chassis at Longbridge, and there were several coach builders who produced bodies
The badge has either a clutch pin or brooch fitting.

Apart from offering free transport for veterans to attend the Cenotaph on Remembrance Sunday all donations are shared between Royal British Legion and Taxi Charity for Military Veterans.

Just got this 'mini' soldier pin , I now have three different pins this size. They are all well made (not cheap copies) so possibly made for Riders Branch.

Been picking up a few Paper/Cloth poppies lately , here are the latest ones.

Cardboard "children's poppy" :- possibly dates 1922-1924.

"Austerity" Poppy :- 1942-1944.

Am in the process of identifying/dating the various poppies and will post photos when I get organised.

Then , like many other fine groups , the RBL banned them from using the Poppy so for 2 years they used a different design but after last year's badge they are not going to produce any more.

.

Postman just delivered a 2022 RMP Remembrance pin (Thanks Michael !) , I didn't think they were producing them this year.

I still think RBL made a big mistake not allowing them to use the traditional Poppy.

They are nice Mike, I wish I'd known they did these, I was in Jersey a couple of weeks ago and could have looked.

Michael

They have produced a lot of pins/badges over the years and I haven't even scratched the surface.

Here are some posted by jermil :

Picked up the Waterside Poppy pin and wondered when the "Poppy Man" figure first appeared .

I have a couple of pins from 2011/2012 , so thought it must have been around that time.

Then I discovered that the RBL had posted a "Poppy People" page on Facebook in 2007 with a picture of the "Poppy Man" logo.

A bit more digging and I discovered an article about an RBL campaign from 2003 :
Quote:

The campaign to find more 'poppy people' is being launched with the message 'Count Me In'
This appears to tie in with a postcard I have (but didn't know what era it was from) , I can't (yet !) find anything earlier so it looks like my initial 'guess' was out by about 8 years. :o

Also got a 2008 Jersey Poppy Appeal pin , an excellent 'limited edition' item with the issue number on the rear.
