There is something poignant in standing at the end of your driveway listening to a far off Last Post and Reveille coming from the house at the bottom of the road.

We Will Remember Them.

My wife and I stood to at dawn at our gate with the Last Post sounding from the radio. Afterwards we had our customary Anzac Day tot of rum before breakfast.

Stood at the top of my driveway I was touched by the young renters in the house opposite who all also turned out with candles and a radio to listen to the service. Lest We Forget.

I was the only silly bugger out in the morning at the end of the drive way in my PJ's slept in :o

Good morning all.

I to stood to at the end of the drive to my block of units with a radio to play the Last Post. I was "armed" with a coffee, a torch and my dads slouch hat.

I was joined by one of our ladies and there were other lights in the street, several other renditions of the Last Post and one distant piper.

All the immediate neighbours turned out at the end of their driveways with candles, poppies, flags and medals.

It was a true representation of the forces that took place in the Gallipoli Landing (six Australian families, one New Zealand family, and one English family).

It was a morning for us all to remember the sacrifices made by many that allows us to enjoy another beautiful morning in Cairns.

Lest we forget.

Pleasantly surprised by my family wanting to join me. Lit several candles and a couple of WWII Australian Army hurricane lanterns. Radio turned up loud for the service. But no neighbors showed up. Big slug of Baileys Irish Cream in the coffee works for me.
