Could anyone be kind enough to ID this button is it even military?.

Hi there,

It is a Mess Waiters button to the 1st or Royal Regiment of Foot/Royal Scots Regiment of Foot.

The backmark dates it to circa 1875-1894.

There is a later version which is similar design except that it has a QVC atop the letters "RS" (Royal Scots).
