Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers Officer's J & Co Badge, FSC or Collar
 

Hello All

I have recently picked up the badge pictured below, a silver and gilt Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers badge maker marked J&Co to the rear. I have seen it mentioned in the link below (starting from post 17) and believe it could be an officer's FSC badge but obviously a collar badge is the other option. Is anyone able to confirm whether this is a FSC or collar badge please.

The badge is 38mm tall and 18mm wide

I don't know much about these but have always seen them advertised as cap badges. Here is a group on sale and the collar badges are similar but without a scroll below the castle.

Many thanks for your reply. I have seen the versions on dealers sites and you are right that most claim the version with Inniskilling scroll as a cap badge but in Colin Churchill's book there were a few scrolled variants used as collars. I am happy to accept this version as a FSC badge and added extra pictures of the back to show the maker's name as this particular variant of flame pattern was classed as unusual so hopefully seeing a version with maker's name will allow people to date it more accurately.

I believe it to be an FSC badge, it is certainly the same design as the first regimental pattern FSC badge for O/Rs, SPN 4184/1894, as the rubbing in the record of changes shows.
