1 Attachment(s)
hi all
any ideas what this can be?
its probably to big to be a shoulder title as you can see an australian rising sun hat badge beside it for scale
i had it in the unknown section on this forum and i was suggested Indian Army Bearer Corps pagri badge, Indian WWI period.
can someone confirm and has anyone got any pics of it being worn?
its part of a bit of a collection im chasing so any idea on a value would also help
thanks in advance

Hi there - it is indeed a brass badge to the Army Bearers Corps - formed in 1901 and so probably WW1 vintage. ( Illustrated in Cox's book ) I'm not sure about value - but I don't think it will be huge - probably £30 >£40 ? Hope that helps. Tim
PS Any Gurkha badges in the lot?

Here is a photo :

From a 1906 article

Quote:

The uniform of the Corps, as the illustrations show, is much the same as that of the Native Army, the distinctive differences being an Army Bearer Corps badge worn on the shoulders, and a "kukree" in place of a bayonet.
