I assume these were also intended for "tropical use".

Yes, the most likely application of a pinback wing was tropical use. That RCAF AG on the top is a great one!

Wings were awarded like this also, on a qualification parade I have pilots wings like this and have seen wings laid out on a table in a photograph ready to be awarded clearly photo to the same chap who was awarded the wing.

I can not put my hands on the photo at this time phot was RAF parade in South Africa

The top and second wings (RCAF AG and RCAF N) are standard issue wings, which appear to have had the backing pin/plate added.

The 3rd wing (N) and the bottom pilots wing both appear to be hand made / theatre made. The style of the actual wing on No. 3 is close to RAAF wings and may have been converted from one (the blue wreath and letter reworked to a brown wreath and new letter).
