Metal Elephant Pagri Badge

2 Attachment(s)
Not the best of images but can anyone identify the pagri badge on this helmet? The bottom device is clearly an elephant but is there a metal scroll above it?

Suggestions as to who might have worn it please.

Jon,

Pagri flash of 15th (Assaye) Field Battery, 26th Field Brigade Royal Artillery, worn in India 1921 - 1928.

The scroll reads 'Assaye'.

Simon,

Brilliant, many thanks. I must have missed it in a cursory look through Norman Litchfield's Pagri Badges.

Yes, all Norman's info.

Have you got one in your own collection, Simon, I should imagine they are difficult to find?

No Frank, seen the Nellies but not the scroll.

Cast Assaye elephant badge

I have never thought much of this badge because it is a casting. Could it be original and Indian-made? Measures 33mm high and has two small loops on the back like a belt buckle badge. Available for offers if anyone is interested.
