RLC question

Gents, I've recently been culling my beret collection and came across a very battered and moth eaten Guards beret with the Household Division backing ribbon - nothing unusual there. However, on looking at the ghosting where the badge had been on the ribbon, I couldn't really identify which Guards cap badge would have been on it. Nearest I got was Coldstream, but this didn't really work BUT a Royal Logistics Corps cap badge fits the outline perfectly and it has a slider.
This may be an obvious question but, do RLC soldiers working with a Guards Bn wear the beret and backing? I know this is common practice for REME attached personel. If so, can anyone identify which RLC units it may be - if its even possible. Regards all - enjoy the weekend! Storm gone and a beautiful sunny day in Cambridge now. Bess |
Could the badge originally fitted have been that of the London Regiment?
(And it's sunny further up north in the county too - almost tropical what with the tigers growling and monkeys whooping). |
Hi Leigh, must admit, I didn't consider that, but there is no mark at the bottom where the point of the star would be for the London Regt - it has a horizontal mark which tends to match the bottom of the RLC badge.
The photo isn't really that clear, but you can just about make out a circle imprint on the ribbon which is consistent with the rear of the RLC badge. Having said all that Leigh, you may still be correct mate. Bess |
Possibly worn by a RLC chef?

Ah, now I think you could well be spot on there Tim. Never considered 'cookery'
|
Oddly, I am currently 'creating' my latest culinary delight - the duck and chic pea curry. It's first outing to our supper table - as with much of my cooking - it'll either taste great or terrible . . . . there are no half measures.

The Latin translates as "I Can't Believe I Ate It All", apparently. |
Could be 20 Sqn RLC based at Regents Park Barracks? They also supply the Royal Baggage Train! But do not know if they are classed as part of the Household Division or London District?
But as already stated each Household Div unit also have RLC chefs as they are deployable. |

This beret badge exists thought to have been worn by RLC chefs attached to 1 KING’S in the 1990s.

I haven't got one - only an image, but how does it compare to this?
Tim |
Fairly close - the RLC one shows as maroon with red border, the Kings close to the same - presumably just the way the red of the images appears on my phone.
|
Ive got The Kings cloth beret badge - the RLC is nice.
