RN officer's hard pattern rank epaulettes
 

Good evening Gentlemen,

I'd like to know which garnment would Royal Navy Officers wear their hard pattern rank epaulettes with? And what kind of epaulettes would they be wearing on their jumper??

If these have a white backing they would be either for the short sleeve open neck shirt or the tropical white bush jacket. There is also a version with a blue backing that is sown down on the greatcoat.

On the wooly pully it woud be a blue slip on sleeve type.

Hard epaulettes would have been worn on tropical uniforms, both shirts and full uniform. Now that white shirts have epaulettes, there is a cloth slip-on epaulette. The cloth slip-on is worn on the pullover

Not quite so - long sleeve shirts have epaulettes, and are worn with a tie. Short sleeved Officers shirts do not have epaulettes and are worn with stiff boards

Current issue short sleeve shirts are the same pattern for ratings and officers. They have epaulettes which have 2 small holes tailored into them to accommodate the fitting laces of these hard style "boards". I have about half a dozen of them hanging up in my wardrobe at work but can obtain a picture if required. I have a pair of officer's epaulettes of the style used on the woolly jumper and will post a picture tomorrow.
