Knife possible CBI Chindit knife
 

Dear Forum

I acquired this unusual knife this week I believe it to be CBI theatre made.

15 inch long blade length 10 & half inch with interesting notch on back edge of blade.

The inscription maker mark makes me think of Burma or India manufacture an area where Chindit knifes were manufactured.

Tiger cub with writing

I have checked various sources Seen similar but not a match. (Not the accepted Chindit patten) but many troops bought locally.

Has any one come across this patten before and can tie it down to time and place.

Or indeed recognise the writing on the blade to a specific language.

Hi Stephen,
I collect knives from WW1&2 and I haven’t seen this type before. Doesn’t look like an issue knife. Probably locally sourced by the soldier.

Thank you I have sent PM, the knife is very good quality and agree can not find it specifically hence here on the forum.

I agree probably locally sourced the dealer I acquired it from bought direct from the family and is reluctant to give me the soldiers name but told me he was South Staffordshire Regiment in the Far East I am hopeful other bits may come my way.

The writing on the blade and Tiger emblem hope will eventually give location still believe Burma or India manufacture.

The notches on the top edge are very unusual would be interested on peoples thoughts
