Pleased as punch to have recently received this one in a lot. Has eluded me for some reason for quite awhile.

Until when was this badge actually worn? I presume it was replaced by the Gun badge when the regiment converted to artillery?

From 1908 until just post WW1, from memory 1920 or 1921-ish.

I’ve heard more than one dealer recount fabled tales of how rare and hard it is to obtain genuine examples of this badge. In truth they’re not that hard to come by and due to being ‘faked to death’ can often be had at surprisingly reasonable prices.

Indeed, I obtained this here in the US along with a lot for an exceptionally reasonable price. Have always been deterred by most of the UK dealer prices, combined with the now horrific postage costs.
