Hi Rob

As its an Australian Military Forces badge its got to be 1948 to 1953 as they became QC after that.

Sorry no Idea who wore it but I'd put about $200 on it and Im interested if you are selling.

Regards

Phil.

White metal ?? can you polish white metal to look like silver? Have included better photos of front and back of badge .Was bought in a job lot as the guy did not want to sell me the one badge I wanted so had to get all of them .:(

So if white metal what would it be worth?? And is it Armoured Corps?? Collar size not large size.

Cheers Rob

It's not an armoured corps badge. They only ever wore ones with lugs.

The only RSB I have seen with tangs was a pair of AMF brass collar badges.

I am very interested to find out about it too. Rob is it cap badge or collar size? It sure looks like a very nice badge to be a fake. I might have thought of it being a Danbury Mint badge but am not aware of them doing Australian badges - but theirs do have blades like that.

Terry its original and is a collar size badge but could be worn on the collar or peaked cap . I thought maybe armoured or Scots units .

Rob

All members of the RAAC only worn black berets during this era.

im still going with
armoured corps beret badge.
whitemetal/nickel not silver as it would have been marked silver?
made by KG Luke not Stokes
i have several gilt and brass versions of this badge, but i dont have a whitemetal

Interesting. Being collar size one would think nurses badge, but the blades would make that unlikely.

I have seen these before (they were still current when I started collecting!) and never discovered exactly why this particular variation had blades rather than lugs. I just assumed Armoured Corps or Scottish regiments.
A scarce pre-war Australian Instructional Corps set exists in WM, which I was told was worn in Scottish regiments
The three main post-war AMF makers were Amor, Stokes and Luke (both KC and QC) but I never completed sets by all three makers in gilt, WM and oxidised. Most oxidised AMF rising suns were Amor which I was told were worn by recruits in training before being assigned to their unit.
Nor sure if there was ever a Stokes set in WM but definitely Luke and Amor.
