A Little Conundrum to pass the time

Here’s a little conundrum which members may like to consider, the photo shows three somewhat similar cap badges. The one on the left, made from souk silver, is an officer’s shamagh badge of the Trucial Oman Scouts. Its scroll reads in Arabic Quwat Sahil Oman (Oman Coastal Force). The one in the centre is the mystery. Its scroll reads the same as the TOS badge and it has a similar fastening. The one on the right is an all ranks beret badge of the Omani Oman Coast Regiment. Its scroll reads Kateeba Sahil Oman (Oman Coast Regiment). At first sight its very similar to the centre one, but it differs in a number of ways.
My question is where does the centre badge fit? Is it a late TOS badge or is it an early OCR badge. If it were the latter it would be unique among Omani badges in having a pin fastening. |
You got it then.:D

After 10+ years of looking! I did have one many years ago but swopped it out with Tom Wylie. When I got his Omani collection after he died it wasn't there. I still don't know what it is.

Can't help with the badge but it's design is similar to an item commemorating the 60th Anniversary of the TOS.

It is isn't it? Is that a medal or ...?
And I just remembered these, sold recently on eBay |
Looks like it may be a dish , as reflection of lettering appears on inside 'rim'.

There's also this. I am now totally convinced that this badge is TOS.

Photo from a 2013 Remembrance Day parade in Colchester shows a TOC veteran and a blazer badge.
