What makes it at all sus? The screw fittings? (Genuine question).

Modern helmet plates of a similar design (dragoon backing star) are invariably supplied with threaded bolt fittings to-day, so would not condemn the backing plate on that basis.

Just to clear up any confusion, the Helmet plate is genuine and the screw post fittings quite normal.

Its a nice piece.
