Lincolnshire regiment badges opinions welcome
 

I have always found lincolnshire badges difficult so many strange looking faces on the sphinx not to mention the fact this regiments badges tend to make more money at auction than most others

I’d be happy with most of those, although the top one in the group of three with the disproportionately large head isn’t one I’ve ever liked personally (I don’t like the stubby little slider on that one much either).

I can’t comment on the TF one, as it’s not a type I’ve spent any time looking at (I tend to focus on the regular battalions as that’s where my family’s history lies), but it’s better-looking than many I’ve seen.

I would agree that the small tablet badge is probably not military.

The Lincoln tablet is one part of a three part Church Lads Brigade shoulder title.

As you've commented on the strange faces, you'll find some very descriptive and hilarious names to distinguish both good & bad and remember them if you search the forum (including both Louth and Grantham OTC). Two in your first image have been given the following names by a prolific Lincs collector on here:

Top - 'fat face Lincs'
Bottom right - 'swan neck Lincs'

Beware the 'clown face' or 'Mr Punch' fakes and the one with the quiff which has been dubbed the 'Johnny Cash Lincs'.

Anyway they make me laugh.

Some nice original Lincs badges posted here thanks Neil. Your Lincoln Imp looks to be a good one too. Anything with a non-serious Sphinx face is suspect. Louth OTC is v hard to come by in my experience. Shall comment in Leicestershire Tigers later for you. Looks a great coverage of East Anglian regiments, cheers Dean

Thank you all for your comments nothing too upsetting, Phil's comment on the Church Lads Brigade was interesting, I know they had connections to KRRC, what are the missing parts to the title, they may be in my tin and was there any connection to the the Lincolnshire Reg.

Silver/Gilt Enamel the set for Royal Lincolshire and the odd one for the Lincolnshire has been crudely repaired

Royal Lincolnshire are the Three lugs on the back of the A/A Normal and was there a metal version?

The Vol Bn Glengarry has the scar of the third lug at the back of the crown so I am happy with it

The three parts of the title are a mitre, CLB and Lincoln.

Three lugs on the back of the anodised is correct.

I wonder if the 3 lugged anodised Royal Lincolnshire badge was produced to ‘fix’ the large cloth backing worn on the beret?
