Crossed rifles etc

Hi All,

Can anyone help me with these badges?

The crossed rifles I was told by the shop keeper was an officers sniper badge but that doesn't sound right to me.

Is the button a military one?

Thanks a lot,

Michael

1st one looks Canadian and will leave it to the Canadian experts.
2nd one looks like South Africa General Service button.
3rd one could be Army Ordnance Corps Victorian Helmet Plate
Cheers
Sean

The crossed rifles is a marksman qualification badge, not sniper standard but awarded for achieving a certain score during normal weapons training, variations, mainly in colour, were and still are awarded to all three services in the UK. Queens crown is a post 1953 issue.

Sorry can't help with the other two.

I'd go with Canadian, definitely not British, no crown on our marksman badges. Officers DO NOT wear skill at arms badges other than Army 100 or TA 50 badges.

Hello Michael

Your button is, I believe, 'South African Active Citizen Force'.

Hopefully a South African expert can confirm or put me right.

Regards
Roger
