Hallmarked Birm 1934 engraved to the reverse Sgt H Murdoch.
Maker Benjamin Ninnes. 1934 the 1st Bn were stationed in Barakpore.

Pair of shooting prizes to Sergeant G.Turner 1st BW.

Silver & gold shooting prize by BHJ (Barnet Henry Joseph) Birm 1903 suspension loop also stamped with lion passant. Front is mounted with a gold disc engraved with Set's 42 badge mistake on motto reads MI instead of ME. Verso inscribed won by Sgt G.Turner 'E' Coy. Weighs 26.6 gm.

Silver shooting prize by W&S (Wilson & Sharp) Edinburgh 1904. Front bears a Sgt's 42 badge within a wreath of thistles surmounted by 42 numerals & crossed rifles. Verso inscribed as above but 1904 date. In 1903 1st Bn were stationed at Edinburgh Castle before moving to Fort George in 1904.

Have seen Aldershot football 1888/9 medal awarded to this man but have been unable to acquire as yet.
There was a Cpl 3064 G.Turner QSA single clasp Cape Colony 2BW whether same man later transfered to 1BW remains unknown.

1929 Boxing medal.
1st Bn boxing medal by WJD (William James Dixon) Birm 1927.
Obverse with finley detailed hand engraved 42 badge with hall marks below. Verso embossed laurel wreath inscribed to the centre, open catch weight runner up 1929. Medal is unnamed 1st Bn station at Fort George 1929. 14.25gm.

42nd/Black Watch officers four tail ostrich feather bonnet a 19th c example by Hobson and Sons 1,3&5 Lexington St London W1. Well worn as chin strap missing sweatband has detached at one end and rosette silk tails are absent. Internally marked in white stencil F 28. Complete with red vulture feather plume and large die-stamped gilt sphinx that has been curved to match the bonnet, unusual design with elongated front legs and prominent claws. Two of three long loops remaining to the reverse. Housed in a contempoary black japanned tin box.

Silver & enamel prize medal 1st party recruits 1911 to 1875 Pte Curran 'D' Coy.
Assayed in Birmingham 1911 not maker marked but by Benjamin Ninnes.

1875 Francis Curran CSM 'A' Coy 1st Bn Royal Highlanders, KIA 18th Aug 1916 age 25. Remembered on the Thiepval Memorial pier & face 10 A. Born Salford 1891 son of Francis & Mary Curran 24 Gertrude St Manchester.

At 4.15am on 18th August the 1st Bn attacked "Intermediate Trench" at Brecourt on the Somme. The attack failed resulting casualties were 1 Off & 12 ORs killed, 3 Offs & 75 ORrs wounded & 2 Offs 40 ORs missing.
