Hi all, can anyone I’d this badge, it looks like it’s a pocket fixing badge. Thanks Andrew.
Badge doesn’t fit my collection field.

Andrew,

If you picked the badge up locally, might it have something to do with 4 Bn's time in Greece during 1947?

Rob.

That is correct, however I am not sure of its authenticity.

Hi luc, what do I need to look for, to check to see if it’s real or a copy. I see the one in the link has had a leather fob added after the cloth/ felt button hole fixing broke. Mine still has the cloth/ felt tab.

The tab has come with the man’s medals / queens cap badge, slip on titles with a black cat on a red ground above, cloth shoulder titles, a pair of red circle on a white ground badges, buttons. All purchased with a photo of him in service, no fob being worn, from the niece of the man if that helps in any way.

When I spotted the example (with provenance) on line I also came across a couple of other examples which are interesting !

Example on eBay :
Description - BRITISH MILITARY MISSION TO GREECE GREEK CLOTH BULLION WIRE UNIFORM BADGE PATCH
Other info :EXCELLENT COPY ........MADE BY 6THJUNE1944.COM BADGE COMPANY.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/122313280744

Turns out that 6THJUNE1944.COM is the site of BUTLER'S Military & Vintage :

ORIGINAL WW2 BRITISH ARMY MISSION TO GREECE BREAST BADGE. 52mm HIGH, 23mm WIDE.

Well, that is difficult to say. There are a lot of variations out there, not only with/without fob but also materials used and design details.

Together with the medals, badges, buttons etc. there is a reasonable chance this is a genuine badge.

Thanks luc, I think it’s going to be one of those badges where the buyer will have to decide once he gets it is his hands.
