RFC wings and cap badges
Dear all,
My last finds. Hope they are genuine...! https://i88.servimg.com/u/f88/15/08/82/48/0a0aec10.jpg https://i88.servimg.com/u/f88/15/08/82/48/51ed4210.jpg Regards, AATTV |
The solid one is not correct I am afraid. Although the voided one looks ok.

Dear Alan,
Thank you for your comment. I have seen some solid ones presented as «*war production*» badges. But the metal of this one seems to be yellowish, indeed. Copy or post war item for veterans? Have a nice day, AATTV |
Copy imo.

Every fully solid badge I’ve seen has been a repro. Note the flaw between the crown and F which is present on many RFC repros.

Dear Luke,
Thank you for your input. I will fly back it to the seller if confirmed 🙂 Have a nice day, AATTV |
Although RAF and RAAF badges were made and worn part voided like that in WW2, I'd agree the 'solid' one is a reproduction, the small square above the 'F' being a tell, something in the striking (or casting) not found on genuine examples.
Wings are spot on, and genuine. |
Dear Padre,
I appreciate your confirmation and explanation. Kind regards, AATTV |
I very much doubt the existence of a single original example.
