Question in Movie Bridge Too Far.

I know this is going to be a dumb questing, but I am going to ask it anyway. I just finished watching the movie "A Bridge Too Far" again and noticed something I did not notice before.

In the movie the Guards tankers were wearing black berets but with the flaming grenade badge. Is that correct? If they were allowed to wear it instead of the Armor badge were there other regiments that might have also done so?

Thanks,

Terry

There were several infantry regiments who had been converted to the RAC who wore their old infantry badges.

It was units of the Guards Armoured Division that lead XXX Corps during Operation Market Garden and are shown in 'A Bridge Too Far' as the Irish Guards and Grenadier Guards.

Although the Guards armoured battalions wore black berets with regimental cap badges, the Units of the Guards Armoured Division were not part of the Royal Armoured Corps. They would not (perish the thought) have worn the RAC Mailed Fist cap badge.

Another error in that film is the wearing by Royal Signals personnel of the post war 'Jimmy' and not the wartime issue badge.
