Pipes and drums,not sure of date but lots of medal ribbons on show.

Now that is a good looking unit, notice the trouble taken to get all of their tam o' shanters slanting the same angle, and in the last row, the shouldered pipes are laying alike. Beautiful!!!!

Well spotted, the Black Watch pipers wear the 42nd Foot pre 1881 and 79th Foot pre 1881 officers glengary badge on the cross belt. Anyone who knows why?

During the Indian mutiny the 42nd & the 79th were so reduced in numbers
they joined together to form a composite battalion.The Cameron badge is worn
to commemorate this occasion.

Ron's quite correct. I remember asking our P/M about this some years ago.

The tradition continues within the RHC today. Interesting how many BW traditions are perpetuated by the RHC...
