I found this New Zealand Field Artillery badge in among the spares . Theatre made ? Different lugs to what is normally seen on these .

Lugs

These type of lugs are found on belt buckle insignia.

I have a similar theatre made badge with a slider.

Hi guys

Just the same lugs as on that CYC badge that I saw and that also had a clearly cast reverse.

I would hazard a guess that they were produced to make up for lost badges, a shortfall in numbers or at a cheaper rate than the "kit deficiencies" that were charged for when soldiers had "swapped" with someone else...
