Great Despatch Rider Insignia Photo

Hi Gents,
I wanted to share this recent find with you. A nice Great War portrait of a member of the Army Service Corps, clear images of the cap badge and shoulder titles. The import detail is the rare/early Despatch Rider arm badge. I have one other photo of this patch but this is such a nice clear image I thought it worthy of sharing. The back of the postcard by the way reads 'With love to my own sweetheart, Arthur'. So a thank you to Arthur. I'm still on the hunt for one of these early DR patches, so if folks can keep a look out for me, I would be most grateful. Cheerio, Roy |
Nice pic. MT ASC.

Thanks Gents,
Yes I was really pleased when this arrived. I was clearly after the DR image but was surprised at how clear all the other insignia was too, especially the MT/ASC. A nice find. Cheerio, Roy |

Here another photo of the DR badge worn by a RE Sapper. Inscription on the back dates it to 1917.

Yes that's another splendid image, appreciate you sharing that one. If you own the original and ever decide to part with it, just drop me a line. Great to see another example. Cheers, Roy |
These two badges are different: number one has realistic motorbike/ car crossed spokes, number two has not.
[that is if the photos are of comparable quality] |
Hi Grumpy,
Well spotted and makes the point why such images are so important. Clearly manufacturers variations. And if nothing els it demonstrates at least 'two' makers were offering these. Cheers, Roy |
