Missing lugs

Hi,

I recently purchased an officers cap badge but it is missing the lugs. Is it worth replacing them it’s a 9th lancers officers badge. If i were to replace them what orientation should the lugs be, does anyone have a photo of one they could share of the back of the same badge?
You can see photos here https://picclick.co.uk/1902-BOER-WAR...147223556.html
For some reason the sites not allowing me to post photos.

Thanks in advance
Rob

From the scars of the missing loops - they would be (obviously) upright so that the pin would go through both loops horizontally!

You'll need to take care when repairing that solder doesn't run into the hallmark on the bottom right.

Is there a maker mark as some of them J & Co. for example used quite chunky loops which you'll be hard pressed to replicate.

At £50 that was a bargain despite it's condition.

Indeed, as already said, for £50 you got a very, very good bargain, despite its state, Rob.

This was once mine below, the new owner is a member of the Forum should you require better images - these all I have on my phone.

Lovely badge.

Could the new owner post a picture of the front please.

My old one, Luke?

Sorry, the focus on these pics isn’t too good!

Very nice Bent & Parker 1901

Thank you Marcus.

From the shape of the crown I wondered if it was the same die as the early ORs badge often found with steel reinforcing behind the lances. On closer inspection I do not believe it is. Many thanks all the same.
