Would like your thoughts on this badge please, expect its a copy but liked how the Hind has Fur, badge appears cast and has two copper fittings to rear right side of slider? (I keep thinking for a sprig of clover or some such?)

Anyhow expect its wrong (but I like it) Hopefully am wrong? All the best billy

The fittings on the back were for a fine chain, you'll see it on OSD's too. It's not clear but there may be evidence of removed loops near the turns in the scroll, if so then it's an officers badge with a slider added.

Billy,

a relatively modern badge missing its chains and certainly not Boer war.
Not hard to find in perfect condition

Yes could be Birmingham Mint. Here is an example for comparison.

Birmingham Mint and badge posted

Well have located the Birmingham Mint version and posted next to that posted originally, obvious to see Ducal Crown missing and no mounting holes for one!

There are differences in the scroll, comparing the "Royal Warwickshire" is crisper than on the Birmingham Mint version, as is the Hinds head and tail? There appears to be some age to the unplated originally posted badge, could the Birmingham Mint badge have been made from this Die?

Or could the original badge posted be an unfinished one? for the Mint? how then to explain the better crisper detail? also rear finish to scroll on original looking more like a casting than a striking?

A lot of similarities to the Birmingham Mint version but to a better / crisper front, at a loss to appearance on the rear?
