NMR sweetheart

I have just acquired a small collection of family medals. One of the groups was to the OC of the Natal Mounted Rifles during the Zulu Rebellion in 1906. With the medals was this sweetheart brooch which I take to be a converted collar badge ( Owen 466) . The original badge was of white metal, but the brooch has been gilded, a pin and a keeper chain fitted . I have come across quite a few such conversions and guess that this was quite a good sideline for the regimental jeweler.
