Weird AAC cap badge from the Stroud Auction

2 Attachment(s)
Good afternoon,

Received my AAC / Glider Pilot Regiment lot from the 6th February Stroud auctions today.
Among the badges is this weird voided AAC cap badge.
I would love to read your opinions on that badge please.
The weight is 2 grams more than my other voided AAC badges.

Kind regards,

Marinus

I've read on the Forum, this type is a fake , 'leaf over feather'.
Regards Tony.

Tony,

Thank you for your response.
It is indeed a 'leaf over feather" fake!
I was distracted by the weird colour.

Kind regards,

Marinus

Hi,
I take it the leaf over feather is the left hand wing? Just so I know for my future reference,
Thanks Gary

Just out of interest, was that sold to you "as seen" or were they selling as original?

To be honest I don't know, Frank.
The description was "British Army, Army Air Corps metal badges including a gilt example and two Glider Pilot Regiment badges".
Here's the link.

Kind regards,

Marinus

Two good original AAC badges, the top one is nickel plated as it has plated lugs. The bottom one is regarded as the first pattern issued which has an identical obverse to the hallmarked silver officers badges produced from 1941.

Jack.

Okay, just wondered, never had anything whatsoever to do with them.

Well, that appears to be the norm across many of the provincial salerooms these days, sadly, which is certainly a reason I don't bother with them to be quite honest, of course some are actually far worse than others.
