A friend of mine has had this badge for a couple of years and noone seems to know what it stands for, it has been suggested that it is for the Aden Schools Combined Cadets, any help on this one would be greatfully received, thanks, John.

I specialize in Aden badges and have no idea what it is. Looking forward to some one who can tell us. My own guess is that it is Aden Services Cricket Club - dont think it is a military unit.

The RAEC archives would, if contacted, probably reveal the name(s) of British Services schools in Aden 1950s - 1967. It worked for me some years ago with the mystery title - Tal Handaq School CCF.

That's a fascinating badge - I would always defer to Quicksilver on all Ade matters but the badge does seem to have definite military elements, the dhow from the formation sign, the daggers from the APL cap badge etc. But equally members of a cricket club would mostly be military chaps so ...

Do hope some one can ID it.

Eddie

Aden Schools

Thank you to everyone who replied to my question. I am a bit dubious about a cricket connection, I played cricket for a good many seasons in my youth and all badges I saw were embroidered on the caps. This badge is a heavy cast brass construction. John.

The history of 1 A&SH in Aden in 1967 reveals that there was an "Apprentice School" located in Lake Lines, Aden (the students mutinied!). I assume that the Apprentice School was an adjunct of the British Forces rather than the Federal Regular Army, hence the crown. So could ASCC expand to Apprentice School Cadet Corps?

Reviving an old thread, I also have one of these badges now.

Anybody now have an idea to the ID? I was hoping it was perhaps an Aden related, services yacht club.

Phil
