Pacific Islands Constabulary Badges

I thought I would start this sub-forum off with some South Pacific Island badges: RPNG constabulary and Cook Islands Police. If you have any more to show, post them on this thread.

Was the oval RPNG badge worn on the shoulder?

Info from Altcar is that the Cook Islands badge is a fake see post #3

Excellent idea Garry, and a nice selection you have there. To answer your question, yes, the oval RPNGC badge is a shoulder title - mine is stamped on the reverse “A J Parkes/Brisbane”.

Here is a chrome belt buckle I purchased some weeks ago, worn by the Kingdom of Tonga Police, stamped “Hobson & Son (London) Ltd”:

I will post a few more later.

The circular Cook Islands badge with the lugs reverse is a common repro. and was never actually produced in white metal with lugs. The genuine item was made in chrome with appropriate fittings designed to be affixed to the centre of a small belt plate.

Saumua,

Some very nice items there, thanks for showing them.

Keep them coming guys, let's get a nice overview of the insignia worn by these units.

If you have anything you can share from these territories or dependencies it would be good including constabularies and correctional institutions.

Canton & Enderbury Islands - population of 41 only (Wikipedia 2013)
Fiji
Gilbert and Ellice Islands
Nauru
Solomon Islands
Union Islands
Pitcairn Islands - population 68 and only 1 constable (from N.Z.)

Already underway:
Cook Islands - started
New Hebrides (Vanatu) - started
Papua & New Guinea - started
Samoa - started
Tonga - started
Tuvalu -started

I would also like to see separate threads on colonial territories protectorates or dependencies constabularies from different regions:

Caribbean, Americas and Atlantic

Africa

Asia

Indian Ocean

Middle East

Mediterranean

So if you fancy starting one of those threads, please go ahead. I'm sure other members will be interested in anything you show.

Hobson and Son, London are actually in Benfleet, Essex. I have been meaning to visit them, they make uniforms and insignia for police and military organisations all over the world.

Here is a nice badge dating from the Australian administration of Nauru. Nauru gained independence in 1968 and at one time was one of the wealthiest nations in the world due to its phosphate deposits. Hard to find badge as even today the force only numbers around 100 members.

Very nice, thanks for sharing. Any chance of a larger image at some point please? My eyesight isn't as good as it used to be :(.
