Tasmania Regt 1948-53
 

Was the Tasmania Regiment, which only existed from 1948 to 1953, ever issued its own badge? I know they had a cloth shoulder title, but none of my sources says anything about a badge. Any information greatly appreciated.

Hi lettman, I do not believe that a badge was supplied for the Tasmania Regiment, and photographs show that they wore the copper oxidised 'rising sun' CPGS badge on SD cap and slouch hat into 1953 and later.

Thanks for that, Keith. In 1953 the unit was split into the Launceston and Derwent Regiments, so at some stage afterwards they would have received the badges of the new units.
