Hello gents,
According to online research this badge or is it a helmet plate is dated 1913 -1926?
Also most of the online versions I’ve seen appear to be solid. Why was this one voided in the centre around the coat of arms?
Any information appreciated.

Voided SAP badges were for Officers.

It's a bit smaller than I initially thought. So maybe it's a collar badge. Size: Approx 46mm high x 37mm wide.

That is the size of a cap badge.

Collars were about half that size and only worn by officers and warrant officers.
