Sold in auction near me yesterday (suffolk) the attached.

I spoke to the vendor, who explained briefly the following. Although he knew very little about his father during the war, he knew he was initially a concsiensous object, who eventually went into the RAMC. At some point he clearly joined a PFA - these were his badges taken from uniforms after the war where they remained in his shed until his father's death 2 years ago. Days before the air landings at Arnhem he had a burst appendix and was in hospital when Market Garden commenced, so did not jump at Arnhem. He later served in Burma apparently.

In case you were wondering . . . . £4,400.

Glad you wrote 'a" PFA. Many believe there was only one and also do not recognise the Air Landing Field Ambulances.

Pretty sure I recall a (one) 'YORKSHIRE' slip-on selling for £1700 at C&T not that long ago - may be mistaken, but pretty sure.

Id say its more likely to be on red due to the RAMC link?

The vendor told me that his Dad had also served in Burma. Could they be Indian wings?

Could anyone confirm which unit wore this badge?

I don't believe it's an Australian Parachute Battalion related wing.

As Jon mentioned, I believe it's an Indian made wing with red background to match the RAMC titles.

Yes it's one of my Australian wings.

I'm always on the look out for other examples that's why this thread raised my interest when I saw the pictures, but I believe the wing we've been discussing is a personal variation.

The beret belonging to the soldier whose badges were shown in post #1 sold at auction this evening for £400.

£400 looks a fair price for a 1945 Kangol para beret with provenance.
