This is a new role (part of Special Forces) and they have acquired their own "wing" and beret (aircraft grey).

Interesting in that the "wing" is also worn as a badge on beret - a big change for the RAAF.

Interesting - when did this happen?

One very nice wing

Interesting. Does the badge have any maker marks or anything?

beaufighter30 28-10-13 06:46 AM

No. The RAAF or DMO no longer allow maker's marks on the reverse of badges, the only recent exception to this of my knowledge is the Army A wing as this was done by the Regiment direct with maker, as it was sick of waiting for DMO to arrange new wings.

At this stage I have not had an actual badge in my hands and chances of that happening is like the rocking horse proving manure!

I believe that there are not even enough made so far to issue to all the qualified personnel in the Sqn. There is also a Brevet to go with the hat badge, I don't suppose you have a photo of that as well do you, or was that the second picture in the original post.

There's a picture of the JBAC brevet already on the forum.

These guys are not JBACs (which is the new designation for what was Air Traffic Controllers).

The badge is worn on the left breast - and also doubles as the beret badge.

The two pictures in my original post are the "burger with lot" for this role!

there is a 2 page spread in today's Air Force News on the training for this mustering.

Any idea who makes the badge?

Mick

It would be nice to see a crown it, it's still the RAAF not a republic yet
