Hi Mike,
Could you post a closeup of the marksman badge please? Roy |

Brit made. These were not an authorized Cdn badge, so it would have been private purchase. (Eg, not authorized in pale blue on maroon.)
|
Very nice grouping Mike.
The Battalion basically took on many of the British dress instructions and qualifications while "combined" with the 6th Airborne Division. The marksman badge was not mandatory but was allowed and had to be purchased. I believe they had to re-qualify every 6 months in order to continue wearing the badge. Roy |
In Ken Joyce's book he states that the sniper qualification badge was also worn.
|
This is in fact the badge that would have been worn by snipers in most cases.
The one with the S was not authorized. |
Very nice indeed Mike! I like them very much.
Veteran Esko Makela purchased and wore the same badge. You can see the example here. http://1stcanparamuseum.com/soldiers...te-esko-makela |
An example in the Airborne Museum in Petawawa...

Nice, I wonder why the PT doesn't have the blue thread?
|
It is blue, the flash has lightened it
