Please could someone help me to identify the Cross Cannon badge shown.
Any information would be very helpful. Size of Badge is approximately 2 inches square. Attachment 253501 Additional information; Rear view shows badge pressed by die not cast. Country of origin would be useful as would rarity and value. |

Welcome.
Royal Regiment of Artillery Gunnery 1st Prize 1892-1898 Crossed cannon barrels, with shell in a laurel wreath. Worn on the lower left sleeve by every NCO and man in the Prize Battery or Company. In silver for volunteers, normally mounted on a dark blue background, sometimes edged in red. Marc |
1st Prize (I thought was 2nd, hav'nt checked the books).
Was it 2nd Prize prior to 1892? |
Always been 1st Prize with the Shell in wreath. The 1877-1892 badge was in silver wire, red or yellow worsted. There may have been silver metal versions then, but I have not found any record of them in metal for 1877-1892.
Marc I would be interested if spare. |
