THE SEABROOK BROTHERS,17 BATTALION,...

Three brothers, Private Theo Leslie Seabrook (left), 2 Lieutenant William Keith Seabrook (centre) and Private George Ross Seabrook (right) of Fivedock, New South Wales, Australia were all serving with 17th Battalion, Australian Infantry when they were killed together at Polygon Wood in the Ypres Salient on 20 - 21 September 1917. At the time of their deaths, George was aged 25, Theo was aged 24 and William was aged 21. Theo and George are commemorated on the Menin Gate at Ypres while William is buried at Lijssenthoek Military Cemetery.

William must have been wounded and lived long enough to make it back to the big casualty clearing stations at Lijssenthoek.

Given the choice I would probably have liked to have gone quickly, like my two brothers.

Really sad, in particular for their parents.

Did the brass hats think of having the three brothers serving in different units....Similar thing happened to two brothers in the 10th Canadian Battalion,being KIA in the same battle and ending the family lineage.....
Now imagine having to tell the father and mother of these three brothers that...that's it no more grand-children.....and all the days after the war not thinking of the glorious Empire or the King or the country...only of three wasted lives....

I don't know that the brass hats learned too much from the experience of WW1.

More than one lot of Canadian brothers were killed at Dieppe.

Example, the Barber brothers, Royal Hamilton Light Infantry, of Simcoe, Ontario.
