New Kings Crown. CIII

New Kings Crown. Looks subtle to me but this new crown is definitely different to the previous Kings crown. Am I correct ?
Richard.

It is just a picture, however have you seen this post?

Time will tell, but personally I am more interested in what the Royal Navy badges will look like.

Nice clear image of a Royal Navy Officers cap badge in this short video

Really neat video Andrew!!! I enjoyed seeing it and the new badges. But have always found the twirling of the drum sticks to be exceptional and cannot imagine how they can do that and hit the drum at the right time! Lots of practice I am sure!

I like the new Crown. Very similar to the previous KC, but just a hint different.
Terry, the tenor drummers, and in older days the bass drummers as well, use tethers tied around the fingers (3rd and 4th) where they join the hand. Having played both in years long gone, it is not difficult to twirl the sticks after a bit of practice.

This is the badge worn by 101 Regt RA for the Coronation.

Agree.

The crown looks just as ‘stuck’ on as an afterthought as the ridiculous tinfoil Paras.

Awful, truly awful!
I really hope these are a one off, just for the parade.

Have you seen this post about the new badges?

Posted this on the other thread:

The common design factor seen so far on actual badges is that the ‘new’ King’s Crown is unvoided.

The CIIIR Royal Engineers badge is in ‘new metal’ when previously officially made and issued in anodised aluminium.

However, it might be the case that these are examples produced in very small quantities and only for personnel who took part in Coronation events and bulk manufactured badges will be different (and better!).

Dealers should not yet have access to stocks of the new badges, so what are they selling at inflated prices?

Apparently John bull clothing is already selling fake RE and REME badges, a bit like our old friend the tall orb RA badges the fakes have a taller orb and voiding around the C isn't right along with the wrong style crown details.

I think they look awful would have been better going back to GV1 badges crown design etc.

cbuehler 08-05-23 09:35 PM

Wow, they don't look particularly nice. The strangest aspect is the way the crown is attached as mentioned before. As if it is not an integral part of the badge.
