Hi Guys, i know nothing of things RA but have taken ownership of a Victorian Gunner Officer's Sabretache Ornament. (See Pic).....
It is approx 6 1/2 inches long and 2 3/4 inches high. It is in 'Fire-Gilded' metal and a serious looking piece....
I wonder if anyone knows what it might be worth as i am considering selling it....

At six and one half inches long it should be from a Shabraque. There are some on here somewhere. With the wooden trail it would date at pre 1872.

Yep, definitely a shabraque badge. The undress RA sabratache plate was a flat version of the standard helmet plate.

The full presenatation would be with a gold wire woven Guelphic crown above and a "Ubique" scroll below all on a blue cloth backing and gold lace edge.

See my post on the Gun badge thread.

There was of course a three inch or so version of this badge which was worn on a binocular pounch on the undress cross belt.
