I thought I would post my new Despatch Rider patch here as it has been suggested that there may be a South African connection.

A splendid gold bullion patch on black.

Not seen one like this before, so it's a long shot but no harm in trying.

It crossed my mind too but in looking at insignia from this unit (see attached) I thought maybe not. Also the use of DR on these German badges appears to normally be below the device.
