wouldnt this Manufacturer be more useful if split into Guant London
and Guant Birmingham ?

I may break this down later but I'm just after an indication of how important a maker was to the manufacturing trade on the basis of what the maker actually produced.

The London and Birmingham bit as far as I can see relates to center of administration only and not manufacture. I have spend countless hours trying to find out where anodised aluminium cap badges by Gaunt were made in London and have come up with nothing. If anyone knows different then please let me know with dates and location.

As such, m belief at this stage is that the change in mark from London to Birmingham reflects change in center of administration only and has nothing to do with manufacture.

GOLD colour. I should have said MOD Security and NOT Guard Service

2) Sovereign Base Area Police(Cyprus) 1st issue - can you tell me what the scroll says.
There is no scroll, just a normal Anodised gold colour crown which I got from the SBA police while with the UN in Cyprus in 1990.
The "NEW" badge is a 8 point star with QC replacing the top point, the words SOVEREIGN BASE AREA POLICE in blue enamel around the center with SBA entwined in the center. This is worn by all ranks. If I can point you towards the Harry WYNNE booklet on the various police that are/were in Cyprus as it shows line drawings of the badges on plate 35. I do not have a copy but was sent some pages by forum member, badjez, back in May of last year(08)

3) Any chance of a piccy of Germany Guard Force?
Again the GOLD Anodised crown.

Chris, Basically yes.
The Anodised crown seems to be used for many things. I believe that at one stage security in Government buildings also wore this badge i.e. MOD, Home Office, etc. There is also a fictitious military unit in the (UK) tv program "PRIMEVIL" who wore the crown as a beret badge.
