Lambourne Manufactured
 

Continuing my research into badges manufactured by" LAMBOURNE" during the Great War, I am unable to determine if there are any "York and Lancaster Regiment" or "Tank Corps" that are marked on the shank "LAMBOURNE & Co BIRMINGHAM" (underscored "o"). The only examples that I have seen, although yet to own, are marked "LAMBOURNE'S".

Can anyone help contradict this finding?

The 'o' is underscored but difficult to see.
I am satisfied the badge is genuine.

There are, as we all know, two different stamps, I assume the first is
LAMBOURNE’S / BIRMINGHAM

and I assume that the second marks it's incorporation
LAMBOURNE & Co / BIRMINGHAM

the big question is when the change came ???

Yes, I am trying to find which came first and if possible the dates the back mark changed. I just can't put the time in to do the research at present, which is a shame.

If it doesn't get a response on this thread, I will open a new one, but can anyone tell me when "coffin" lugs replaced normal lugs on shoulder titles, or were they used at the same time as each other?

Going by this advertisement from 1955 I would say Lambourne’s is later.
They may have dropped the & Co when they moved to Great Hampton Row in 1932

I think you might be right that The "LAMBOURNES" mark is later, but I think that it is before 1932. I have a "Machine Gun Corps" shoulder title marked "LAMBOURNES BIRMINGHAM" that would date to at least 10 years previous.

So back to my earlier question, when were "coffin" lugs used on shoulder titles?

Lambourne's and Lambourne & Co
 

Both would appear to have been in use during the First World War. As I have a Tank Corps other ranks collar badge pair. Although not an identical pair as one (the right collar badge) is marked Lambourne's Birmingham. While the other (the left collar badge) is marked Lambourne & Co.
The Lambourne's badge seems to have been repaired the original copper lugs being replaced by silver ones and the Lambourne's metal plaque has been re-soldered on the back upside down. A mistake I don't think would have passed strict WW1 quality control for badges. The badge looks an original but tampered with. Hope this sheds some light on when each title was used.
Recently an absolutely authentic metal detector find a WW1 Tank Corps other ranks right collar badge marked with the Lambourne's plaque on the back would indicate Lambourne's plates were in use during WW1
