An unidentified soldier of 4 Aust Div, AIF. The card has written on the back:
Taken March 23rd 1918. Dad, Cousin Herbert, Mother
From: Mrs LL Dines, 51 Littlewood St, Rothwell, Kettering, Northants, England.
To: 26386 Pte CK Dines, East Surrey Regt, 55th POW Coy, BEF, France
As far as I can judge the shades of grey of his colour patch would indicate either 49 Bn or 51 Bn of 13 Inf Bde. A more positive ID would be very welcome. Mike

There was one incomplete record in the Aus archives, for "H. Dines" might be worth further research to see if it's a match.Sadly, seems the papers were not really filled in properly, but worth looking at as a possibility, perhaps?

Thanks. That's an interesting document - RHA (Imperial Reserve) and enlisted in 2nd Military District in Australia on 11 Aug 14 or 8 Nov 14? Mike

Hi Mike, it will be 11th August 1914, as Aus dates are day/month/year

Possibly 50 or 51 Bn Mike.

Imperial reservists went back to UK in drafts to serve with their original regiments.
