AIF Western Australia RSA badge

This one drew my attention when I was searching "that" site:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/234352111....c100903.m5276

I have a couple of these badges and they don't look at all like this. I'll post photos of the ones that I have and leave it up to the Forum to compare and decide but there is a sinking to the reverse that doesn't entirely convince me...

I'm still prepared to be proven wrong. :)

Haven't seen that badge before but found a photo on WA Museum site that has the same "sinking to the reverse" .

.

Hi Mate

not sure.... the one pictured in Clive's book shows similar 'sinking' but the pic is not clear enough to see the hallmark, albeit it is a similar shape.

Be good top see your examples, and compare

cheers, Tim

Hi Tim and Mike

I think I have at least three of these so I'll dig them out and see what they look like. They all came from WA as you might guess!

My reason for questioning this was that it appeared to have a lot of "flash" around the lettering and the mark looked blurred.

Having said that, a hundred reasons why it could look weathered (ground dug, been through a fire, struck by lightning...)

:)

Here are two photos of one of my WA RSA badges. The others have eluded me for the moment but I'll post those who they decide to put in an appearance...

Maker reads as "CARIS" in large, crude serifed letters.

Here are the other two Western Australia RSA badges.

There is some sinking to the reverse of one badge but I suspect that this is from the force used to strike the badge, given that there is a good deal of raised detail to the front of the badge.

Anyway, three examples of this uncommon badge. Over to you to decide!

I see that the badge that was the subject of my original post just made a tad over AUD$361...

So let's see, my three examples at AUD$360 each makes....
