Bedford Modern School OTC

Does any one know when this OTC might have been formed, and did they have a cap badge.
Did there use the Bedfordshire Regiment cap badge if so which one was it.
cant find any reference to it in Kipling and King book and there is only a reference to cloth and metal shoulder titles in Rawlings book.
Any help would be great.
Andy

From the famous article by Ernest Martin in 1938 "Badges of the OTC",he says the cap badge of the Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire Regiment is worn, the collar badge is white metal bearing the school arms, a spread eagle with the name ona scroll beneath.

Picture ( poor one ) of the collar badge attached.

I dont know when the unit was formed.

Have you tried contacting the school archivist?

This was priced at over £120!

The prices OTC badges and titles are listed for on regimentalbadges.com seems to have increased drastically as have their offerings.

A collecting theme which very much seems to be on the rise in both demand and values.

Following your warnings on the subject Alan I’m quite convinced several of what they have sold recently are quietly literally just ‘school badges’.

I agree and it is partly due to the fact that the number of repro OTC badges is about a dozen designs but I am sure that they will profligate.

This Cranleigh badge is one of the few fake CCF badges

Yes it was. I bought one that was on Ebay for £5 as it was not attributed.
