White metal POW collar badge for identification

Hello Forum members,

Here is a small collar badge with tight scrolls.
I think it may be for the 3rd Glamorgan Volunteer Rifle Corps 1891-1908, mentioned in Colin Churchill, Fig 1154.
Or possibly a police badge?

Comments welcome.
Thanks John

Hi John
Not got my Churchill book to hand, but I know the 2nd Devon Volunteers wore a GM version of this, or it could have been when they became 5th Territorial Bn, either way this badge was in GM, so I would say this is a military badge.

Cheshire RV used to wear this collar badge.

Hi,
Thanks for your input.
Yes, Colin Churchill has similar badge, see Fig. 632, but it is not the same pattern as mine shown.
Regards, John

Hi Chris,
That's interesting. I see this badge in Colin Churchill, Fig. 357.

I believe the 10th Hussars officers wore a very small silver badge on mess dress collars too.

Hi CB,
I would guess the 10th Hussars collar badge would have spread scrolls like their hat badge, not tight scrolls like mine.

Actually, they were not spread out as the cap badges. Your badge appears to be a silvered officer quality, not OR? So I think it could be for several units including 3rd Glam. 10H etc.

As I posted earlier it was used by the Cheshire RV, but it does seem to be used by several regiment. The 1st VB Cheshire Regiment wore a blackened version as well as collar badges it was used as a pouch badge and Crossbelt badge.

Hi Jonathan,
Thanks for your clarification and pictures.
Obviously the 3rd Glamorgan collars were a different pattern, main difference being the solid stems at base.
