1 CPB Embriodered Officers Cap Badge (Lt Col Eadie)

Aim is to add a little information re embroidered 1 CPB Officers Cap Badges.

Attached is a picture taken by the Museum Curator at the CFB Petawawa Military Museum of Lt Col Eadie's Beret and Badge (approx Feb 2003). It was donated by Lt Col Eadie to the Museum in 1991.

Second attachment is the E Mail that the Curator provided with the details on his Beret and Embroidered Badge. This all dated from Feb 2003 .
It provides definitive proof of the existence of the elusive embroidered 1 CPB badge for Officers serving with the Canadian Parachute Battalion.

(I had served in Petawawa for a number of years and found the Museum staff to be outstanding regarding assistance when conducting research. I had asked for this information on the beret and badge as I had been fortunate enough to handle the Beret in the mid 90's while posted there.)

Merry Christmas to all,
Paul

Embroidered Cap Badge

This badge was made for Lt. Col. Eadie in the UK. I actually have a photo
somewhere of him wearing this exact beret in Toronto on the battalions return to Canada in 45. I will try to find and post.

Regards

Ken

Hi Ken,
Thanks for the addition. I guess it's safe to say that the badge was a wartime purchase, not post war. It would be interesting to see how many officers in the Battalion actually bought one? They do seem rare.
(If you require my original attachments for your reference, let me know).

Embroidered Officers Badge

Hi Paul

From what I have been able to find out, it was likely a one off badge for Eadie. No others are known. As stated, these could be made while you wait. It may have also been a gift to him.

It is interesting that it is a combination of bullion and standard threads.

I took photos of his beret at Pet back in the 90's and still have those, thanks.

Ken
