Hi Gents,

Can anyone tell me when this title was worn?

Thanks

Paul

Hi Paul
I would have put this title down as being worn during WW2. See example here:

Item Code: 54262
cheers

One of several unofficial titles worn in WW2. BD arrived with the Marines in April 1940 but the official Cash's tapes did not appear until March 1941 and unofficial titles like yours seem to have been offered unofficially to fill the gap.

I joined the Royal Marines, as a Junior Marine, 1963 and we were still wearing them on BD and well into 1965 .

Ironically they are going back to straight

They (cash tapes) were still worn by Phase 2 RMR recruits well into the early 90s on woolly pullys - they had to stich them on so they curved across the shoulder seam.
